Green Cheeked Conures, with a length of 10 inches, are a little smaller than some of their showier cousins. Green Cheeks have a green body with blue primary flight feathers and a maroon tail. The scallop feathers on the chest and upper neck are fringed with white. There is purple on the belly and the beak and ear covers are brown. The upper surface of the tail feathers is redish. Green Cheek conures are quite sociable and definitely quieter than their larger cousins, which makes them a particularly easy pet to live with. Although they are not known to be great talkers, they are wonderful companions. Like all conures, Green Cheeks are natural, playful clowns that endlessly entertain their owners with amusing antics. Conures are frequently seen rolling on their backs, kicking their feet in the air, wrestling and tumbling, standing on their heads or hanging upside down by a toenail and rotating in space while calling raucously to their friends. |
