A variation of Green Cheeked Conures, Black Capped Conures are about 10 inches in length. On these birds, the forehead and crown are black. The feathers at the side of the neck, throat, and upper breast are dark brown edged in buff-white, or with yellow on the lower breast, giving them a sporty scalloped appearance. The primary coverts are red, and the under wing coverts green. The tail is green above and greyish below. The bill is grey, the iris brown, and the legs dark grey. All in all, the Black Capped Conure is a very handsome bird. They're quite sociable and definitely quieter than their larger conures, such as the Sun Conure, which makes them a particularly easy pet to live with. Although they are not known to be great talkers, they are wonderful companions. Like all conures, these birds are natural, playful clowns that endlessly entertain their owners with amusing antics. |
