The Sun Conure's body color has a yellow-orange glow with a distinct resemblance to gold. Yellow, orange, red, blue and green are blended together to make the Sun Conure one of the most beautiful of all parrots. Although the dominant color is sun-conure yellow, there is green in the under tail coverts. The upper wing coverts are green with yellowish edges. The primaries are also green, but with blue edges. The secondary feathers are also green. The upper side of the tail feathers is olive green, while the bottom is black. The sides of the head and forehead are orange, as is the abdomen and the lower part of the back. The under tail coverts are green, but with yellowing. The eyes are a rich dark brown, with a white ring. The beak is black and the feet gray.

Sun Conures love attention and want to be close to their owners, who will be both charmed and delighted by their Sun's multifaceted personality. Sun Conures are curious, inquisitive, active, acrobatic, playful and gorgeous. On the minus side, they are one of the noisier conures. Most Sun owners find their call tolerable, but rather harsh and screechy.

Like all conures, Sun Conures are natural playful clowns that endlessly entertain their owners with amusing antics. Conures are frequently seen rolling on their backs, kicking their feet in the air, wrestling and tumbling, standing on their heads or hanging upside down by a toenail and rotating in space while calling to their friends.
