Elegant Parakeet
Elegant Parakeets are one of the Neophemas, a group noted for their beauty and
gentle quiet ways - as close to being "ideal" aviary birds as one
could imagine. The Elegant Parakeet is one of the lovliest of the group,
small, no bigger than a budgie, with a pleasant voice, gentle disposition,
and no unworthy vices. One look at its photograph and you'll see why it's
called the Elegant Parakeet. Basically olive green in color with blue-trimmed
wings, a splash of yellow, and a snazzy vivid blue stripe across
its forehead and eyes, the Elegant Parakeet is one gorgeous little bird. Males
have wider blue brows than do the hens and occasionally, red thumbnail splashes
on their abdomens. These birds are hardy and easy to care for.

Elegant Parakeets are popular aviary birds because of their beauty and peaceful
temperament. Their pleasant chirping and nondestructive nature adds to
their charm. As lovely and beautiful as these birds are, because of their quiet
introverted personalities, they aren't the perfect pet for everyone. Budgies
are much more outgoing, boisterous, willing to make friends and interact one-on-one
with just about anyone. Elegant Parakeets are wonderful to have around, to watch,
and to enjoy, but are probably best enjoyed living in aviaries or flight cages.
